Overview

p2pnas turns the disk space pooled by a network of acquaintances into resilient personal storage. Instead of renting space from a cloud giant, you pool yours with a circle of trust — and everyone gets a private, encrypted, always-available "My Cloud".

Under the hood, every file is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before it leaves your node, then dispersed into redundant fragments with Reed-Solomon 10+4 erasure coding: your data rebuilds even if up to 4 of the 14 fragments vanish, and peers only ever store unreadable pieces. The space shows up right inside Drive as a simple mount, and the administrator allocates a per-user quota. Successor to the ptopnas project, its Rust core was rewritten from scratch and benchmarked — 2.3 to 8.4 GiB/s depending on content, on a desktop machine — without ever weakening security.

What you can do

Encrypted before it leaves

Hardware-accelerated AES-256-GCM: files are encrypted on your node before being dispersed; peers store only unreadable fragments.

Self-healing

Reed-Solomon 10+4 erasure coding plus automatic repair passes: your data rebuilds even when up to 4 of 14 fragments disappear.

Peer-to-peer, no datacenter

Space is pooled across a network of trusted acquaintances — no central storage server, no monthly subscription.

Fast by design

An optimized Rust core (zero-copy, AES-NI, mimalloc): 2.3 to 8.4 GiB/s in public benchmarks depending on content, with zero security trade-offs.

“My Cloud” in Drive

Not one more app to learn: the distributed space appears as a transparent mount, right inside Drive.

Quotas & jurisdictions

The administrator allocates everyone's space and can restrict which countries fragments may be placed in; the control plane lives in PostgreSQL.

Built for the way you work

Individuals

A resilient personal cloud with no subscription, pooling space with people you trust.

Families & collectives

Pool the disk space of a circle; everyone gets their own private, encrypted "My Cloud".

Administrators

Provide redundant, encrypted storage without a costly bay: quotas, peers and jobs driven from PostgreSQL.
